Rip Rap is loose rock used to form a foundation for a breakwater or other structure used to armor the shoreline. In some cases, when the water is very rough and to prolong the life of your bulkhead, we recommend using Rip Rap (large rock) placed in front of a bulkhead. Rip rap is commonly granite, limestone and concrete rubble from paving or building demolition. It can be used on most any waterway or water containment where there is potential for water erosion.
